it don’t mean a thing, if it ain’t got that swing

language is no barrier for this patient January 23, 2007

a new patient on another team looks at me, looks at my name tag, then looks up at me and says, in a very bad accent,

“anh yeu em.”  (i love you, from a boy to a girl)

“um are you trying to speak vietnamese?”

“i think you’re dep”  (pretty/beautiful)

later, in the afternoon…

“do you have a boyfriend?”

p.s. i should mention that i’m currently on psych at SCMHTC, an inpatient facility for patients requiring acute psych care, i.e. the acutely crazy people.
